Porsche 908/3
Porsche 908/3 owner Phil Daigrepont tells us all about this unique
car. This was the last model of the lightweight, flat eight cylinder
race cars that Porsche built. It features an unusual transaxle in that the transmission
section is between the engine and the differential, not behind the differential
and rear axle. This puts less weight hanging out behind the rear axle and
concentrates virtually all the car's weight within the wheelbase. This
leads to very responsive handling. The frame is made of aluminum tubing
with a light fiberglass body. The engine is three liters in displacement
with Bosch mechanical fuel injection. The in-car camera will give you a driver's
eye view of the track. Thanks to Phil Daigrepont for the in-car video.
